Vacation "Must-haves"

At this time of the year, we look into going on vacations so we can escape the cold here in Canada.  I for one am desperately needing time away, this feeling is reinforced as I browse my vacation pictures from down South.  I long to feel the warmth of the sand on my feet and the "salt water effect" which makes my hair manageable when it's curly. I love the sun and the selection of exotic fruits down South; but what I extremely love most is extending my Summer fashion to my sunny destinations.

Here's my Top Ten "To Pack Items" for a Sunny Destination
  1. Skin products - You only have one set of skin, so take care of it! Always wear sunscreen and never neglect your daily skin care routine when on vacation.
  2. Maxi Dresses - They're appropriate to wear day/night, especially on any of your "a la carte" evenings.
  3. Denim Bottoms - Be prepared to take on at least one rough day while on your vacation. Whether it be shorts or jeans, you will require a tough pair to get you through the day.  When I went to Ocho Rios, Jamaica we went mountain biking down through the Blue Mountain Rainforest.  My ripped up levi's shorts got down and dirty with me.
  4. Cropped Tops in Bright Colours - It's about the only time I ever wear crop tanks/shirts.  I don't show skin when I wear crop tops here, normally I wear them with High-waisted bottoms with the front slightly tucked.  However, on vacation, I run wild and free.  I love pairing them with ripped denim shorts, over my floral dresses or sometimes I use them as a swimsuit cover up.
  5. Swimsuit Cover-ups - Bring lots of these, you can never have enough.  I love the ocean! I spend my day from sunrise to sunset by the ocean and in the ocean.  Hanging around the vicinity requires a quick cover up to grab meals during the day or if you're like me, you participate in resort games.  *Hehe!
  6. Hair Products - I have curly hair and I certainly need hair products to tame my mane in sometimes unbearable heat.  I always have Anti-Frizz, weightless hair gel/mousse and my curling iron to help define my curls for one of those fine evenings.
  7. Wedges - I think the "epitome" of Resort shoes are definitely wedges.  I bring at least 2; one in neutral and one in a summer bright (of course this will depend on what colour is dominating in my suitcase).
  8. A Light Jacket - I always bring my levi's jean jacket.  On a cool evening, I like to layer my summer dresses with my jean jacket slightly rolled up at the sleeve.  It gives my soft, flowy dresses a super cool look.  A good contrast between soft and hard looks.
  9. A Pair of Runners - I'm not the one to really bring runners, but from my past experience I've learned that you need proper shoes to stay active on vacations.  It's also better support for your feet, if you plan to walk on all types of surfaces and sightsee all day.
  10. Good Company - It's always a Fun time when you're around people who compliment you.  I almost always travel with my boyfriend and he's amazing company.  He and I always meet amazing people on our vacations who we've actually kept in touch with until this day.
